The Felted Faerie Door
A six-week exploration into faerie making and narrative felting
April 5th - May 19th, 2024
This class will walk you through creating a cast of characters and a felted faerie door with different seasonal elements. The lessons are all prerecorded and can be worked through at your own pace, with weekly Zooms for sharing work, discussing ideas and asking questions.
Week One:
Learn how to hand sew a Lavender & Lark Faerie. Faeries are made over a wire armature so they can be gently repositioned.
Week Two:
Explore a variety of Faerie costumes from wet-felted to hand-sewn. Learn how to hand-dye wool locks for hair, and how to create tattered faerie wings and felted wings.
Week Three:
Needle felt a faerie door in a box. Learn different techniques for creating felted moss and bark out of a variety of natural fibres.
Week Four:
Learn how to wet felt autumn leaves, chestnuts, and felt fungi and shaggy mane mushrooms.
Week Five:
Create felt snow and an icy pond, make a needle felted Snowman, a holly branch with wet felted leaves, and stitch tiny toboggans & skis for your faeries or forest creatures.
Week Six:
Make a felted apple blossom branch with a tiny hummingbird nest and humming bird. Learn how to make felted amanita and morel toadstools. Make a small wet and needle felted tree stump table and stools.

4-6 weeks of modules: comprising of video tutorials & photo/text (depending on whether you are doing the full class with doll making and felting or the felting only).
Weekly Zoom meetings: Zooms are held every other Sunday throughout the course. They are an excellent opportunity to share work and ask questions.
In-course support with me for the duration of the course – you can ask questions whenever you need via email or Facebook. I will also be available after the class if you are revisiting lessons and have any questions.
Access to our private class Facebook group: This is a wonderful way of connecting with other students during the course, sharing photos of work, and getting/giving feedback.
