Owl in Flight

A 6-8 week class in Faerie making & felting

Faerie & Owl ~ February 14 - April 13th

Owl Only ~ February 28th - April 13th

In this eight-week class you will be making a life size barn owl and a soft sculpture art doll, or a six week class with owl only.

Owl: You will learn how to make a sturdy wire armature for a large bird in flight, as well as various needle felting techniques that will help you build a solid form while also creating a captivating sense of movement. Additionally, you will explore different methods for wet felting feathers, which will add texture and realism to your finished piece.

Faerie: You will be hand sewing a faerie from natural fibres over wire armature, learning how to dye locks for hair with a variety of natural dyes, embroider a tiny face, and create clothing using salvaged antique fabrics and wool felt.

Materials are not included in the cost of the course. A full resource list for materials will be emailed to you upon registration. Kits will also be available for purchase.

This is an intermediate level class - for those with prior needle felting experience. Prior hand sewing experience an asset but not a must. If you are looking for a beginner class I recommend the Chickadee & Robin course.

New lessons will be available every Friday, with about 4-6 hours of student time recommended each week. You can work through the modules at your own pace as you have 12 months access to the online classroom. I am available throughout the eight weeks (and beyond) to answer any questions. There is an optional weekly Zoom meeting where you can join the class to ask question, discuss progress and share work.

Please read through the FAQ if you have any questions, or contact me directly.
