~ July 5th - 7th, 2019 ~
"No child but must remember laying his head in the grass, staring into the infinitesimal forest and seeing it grow populous with fairy armies."
~Robert Louis Stevenson
When: July 5th - July 7th Friday 9 - 6PM, Saturday & Sunday 10 - 6PM
Where: Toronto, Ontario
What: This is an intensive three-day workshop in Faerie making. We will be hand sewing a 5-6" faerie out of natural fibres; you will be using cotton interlocks (specifically for this kind of doll making), wool roving, mohair locks, and vintage fabrics, and a wire armature. The hare will be needle felted over a wire armature and will stand approximately 12" high.
For Who: This workshop is for those who have prior hand-sewing experience, and prior needle felting experience. It is not a beginner course and requires comfort with very tiny hand-stitches. If you are interested in joining the workshop but don’t have much experience, you can message me and I will share some wonderful online sources that offer tutorials, where you can practise felting techniques leading up to the course.
Cost: $550 CAD
• All tools and materials.
• Tea & snacks Friday through Sunday.
• An in-depth PDF tutorial covering everything I will be teaching in class.
This is a small workshop, with only 8 spaces available, so I will have ample time to work with everyone one on one.
The first day you will be creating a wire armature for your faerie, hand sewing their body, learning how to embroider a face, and making faerie clothing.
The second day you will be creating hair and making wings in the morning. In the afternoon, you will be making a wire armature for your hares, and building the body with wool batt.
The third day you will be needle felting your hares, learning how to create fur and a lifelike face, and attaching your faerie.
***Please be aware that you may not use this doll pattern to sell from. Doll making is a wonderful art form and this workshop is all about building skills and learning techniques that are versatile and can be applied in all sorts of ways in your doll making.
